December Interview, (Page 2/4)
Are there any maps specifically for multiplayer mode?

Mike: The Multiplayer maps are taken from the Singleplayer ones. Although lots of work goes into each one to ensure that they are suitable for the Gameplay modes available.

Is it possible to play as regular soldiers and as the enemy in MP mode? If so, can this also be done in SP mode, by unlocking it with a cheat code or something?

Mike: It is possible to play as enemy forms of your Commandos characters in MP. No, it’s not unlockable in SP.

Can you tell us how the multiplayer modes Postmen and Sabotage work? What are the other modes for Multiplayer? Is there coop, if not why did you decided not to include it.

Mike: We have Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Sabotage modes. Sabotage is an interesting mode and one that we feel works well with the ethos behind Commandos Strike Force.
The players are divided into two teams, each team must have at least one Spy. When you defeat an opposing player there is a short period of time where the fallen player will lie on the ground (in agony of course). During this time your Spy can run up to that player and interrogate him. If successful the player will reveal a digit from the codekey for a bomb housed in their base. If you get all the digits (6) you can then arm the bomb and destroy their base. You must however guard your Spy (or Spies), if they are killed you will have to start interrogating from the beginning. Even worse if a Spy falls in battle and is interrogated he will reveal three digits of the code. You therefore have to protect your Spies and make sure they aren’t killed. Teamwork is key in this mode.

The game promises to have open maps, which allows the player to complete the missions in many different ways. Can you tell us how this works in the game?

Mike: It’s difficult to summarise in text form but the best way to explain this openness is that the player is given the whole map at the start of the mission. This then allows the player to plan how they want to progress. We want people to try stealth, action, whatever they like. They can swap between characters which will also alter the Gameplay. We want people to have different experiences and talk about how they completed levels with their friends.

Are there any hidden locations and secrets on the map, which give certain advantages (or maybe bad surprises) to the player?

Mike: Maybe :)

Does the game feature any historical battles, like D-Day, or missions based on books and movies? Any Easter Eggs are waiting for us?

Mike: Not really, missions have taken inspiration from a number of sources, some original some recognisable. We have set out to make a game that doesn’t rely on actual historical fact or battles but is really good fun to play. There is unlockable stuff in the game though!

Any maps from the older games featured in CSF?

Mike: There are a couple of maps that you could say have some relation to previous Commandos games.

We know you can distract an enemy soldier with a cigarette pack or a coin. Why are there 2 different methods to distract? Is there any difference between them? Is there any more ways to distract the soldiers?

Mike: You can distract using Cigarettes which is visual. The enemy will see the pack and go over to investigate. The coin is audio, when thrown the enemy will look in the direction from where the sound came from. If the Spy wears a uniform of a higher rank to the target enemy he can also distract.

Throwing a pack of cigarettes is an old ability of our Commandos. Are the decoy, lethal syringe, ability to climb poles and other old abilities making a comeback too?

Mike: Afraid not, there are various reasons but I wont bore you with that right now. We do however have Poison Grenades, Smoke Grenades, Molotov cocktails, Antitank mines and using disguises. You can also look through keyholes before entering rooms (some may recognise this from old Commandos games).
