Commandos 2 Editing Article (page 1/4 )

Introduction

This document will help you create some minor modifications to Commandos 2. If you think this is too complicated or if you don't want to mess up your game, try out any of the mods made by me (Snowden).

Tools:

- Full commandos 2 game, patched to version 1.2

- .pck extractor (recommended: Core v2.0)

- Notepad or Wordpad (i.e. some kind of text editor)

IMPORTANT WARNING: Doing any modifications to the game may result in loss of data etc. I am in no case responsible for this kind of damage i.e. Do this if you know what you’re doing.

The key to modding is that all files in the data.pck or data2.pck can be put in the data folder and will automatically override (not overwrite) the ones in the pck file. To get the game back to initial condition, remove the files added, from the data folder. Remember only remove the files you added, unless you wanna screw up your game of course.

PART 1 EDITING THE PARGLOBAL.DAT FILE

Chapter 1

Extract the file PARGLOBAL.DAT from the data.pck (with your pck extractor) and put it in the data folder (remember all files in the data.pck can be put in the data folder and will automatically override/overwrite the ones in the pck file). Open it with notepad.

Find these lines (blue text added):

# Si es true, provoca que la apariencia de todos los bichos japos sea como si fuesen alemanes. Es para que no se enfaden en el país del sol naciente.

( QUE_NO_APAREZCAN_BICHOS_JAPONESES BOOL 0 ) = changing this number to 1 will make all Japanese normal soldiers look like german ones.

# si es true, se usa la jeometria simplificada para la sombra ( USAR_SOMBRAS_SIMPLIFICADAS BOOL 1 ) = changing this number to either 1 or 0 gives and UNKNOWN change

# si es true, no aparece sangre en el juego. Es pa los konichiwa y los frankfürten, muy suspceptibles ellos. ( NO_QUIERO_SANGRE BOOL 0 ) = if true, i.e. set to 1 no blood will show on screen

# si es true, aparecen cadáveres en el juego. Si es false, aparecen sacos en su lugar ( QUIERO_CADAVERES BOOL 1 ) = if false, i.e. set to 0 no corpses will show, only sand bags, as in the Korean (?) and German versions of the game.

Find these lines:
