Walkthrough - Commandos 3
Stalingrad - Kill the sniper

Stalingrad Part 1

It’s not hard to understand why everyone thinks mission one is so lame. All you have to do is move Duke towards the opening the Sniper cannot see, and the sniper will get up and run to cover both entrances into the square. You can then run back into the building, poke out of the window closest to the top of my map and pick him off at your leisure. Mission done. Sucks, huh

Stalingrad Part 2

Part 2 is a little more fun, but equally easy. You must take control immediately, but even if you don’t you can still exert control over the chokepoint relatively quickly. You have to keep nazis from getting to O’ Donnell, so the most sensible way to do this is clamp a stanglehold on the bridge as soon as possible. And since no nazis start on your side of the bridge except a clustered squad, it makes perfect sense to do that immediately. Go grab the nice cache of equipment down in the crate to your right at the start, then get the other crate marked “position B”. Give Inferno all of Tiny’s grenades.

Crawl Inferno around behind the squad and set him up to wait. Bring Duke close but not up to meet Inferno yet. By the time you get there and all set up, you should have a second squad forming and getting ready to move (#3). Look at my second picture of the screen. All those soldiers come running across the bridge. With all that red and Inferno right there with a pouch of grenades, if I have to spell it out for you, maybe you shouldn’t be playing this particular game.

After Inferno bats a grand slam on that first wave, have him don a uniform or crawl out to the bridge proper. Does it not beg to be mined? Of course it does! The only issue with this mission is that the paratroopers keep coming, and they will hold you up until the last wave, when O’ Donnell makes his move for the plane. You can cross the bridge if you want, but do so at a juncture when you won’t get caught out there. Between the cocktails, mines, grenades (there’s another box on the bridge itself), and Duke taking up the cover position with the rifle ain’t nothing getting past that bridge intact. Hold your position until O’ Donnell is ready to evacuate, and then make your way to the plane. With the extra sniper rounds you should still have, clearing out the path to the plane is a cake walk.
